Zeke's Coffee is a family-owned, small-batch roaster with several shops around DC, and its site says it specializes in organic and fair trade coffee. The downtown shop is small and spotless, with a few tables, so it's best for a quick coffee or a chat.

They roast low and slow, so the coffee comes out smooth and low in acid. Royal Blue and Bali Blue Krishna are favorites, and the Bali's popular for French press and pour-over. The espresso leans bright and citrusy, and the cinnamon maple latte is the fall pick. There are three drip roasts to choose from every day.
